"Cosmogonia" is an imagining of unseeable light, Big-Bangs, and microscopic inceptions through photographic processes which record the remnant shadows of light, manipulated through objects and drawings. Inspired by those early experimenters of science and light, I want to “photograph” the unseeable and transfix the viewer with real photographs of unreal things. Of all the photographic processes and mediums, I find the direct interaction between objects and their rendered image in photograms to be the most formal, hands-on, and experimental.
These are an ongoing series of mostly large scale (42" x 42" or 107cm x 107cm) cameraless photograms, including silver gelatin and cyanotype prints. Created from complex layers of found objects, stencils, and renderings on translucent papers combined into compositions for the exposure.
